Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Job Description
This Phlebotomist II position involves performing high-volume blood draws and specimen collections for patients across all age groups in a busy outpatient clinical setting. The role focuses on accurate and efficient venipuncture, specimen processing, and strict adherence to laboratory protocols and safety regulations while providing courteous, professional service to patients and clinical staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Collect and store blood, urine, fecal, and other specimens according to established procedures and test requirements.
- Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients before performing the procedure.
- Match laboratory requisition forms or computer-generated labels to specimen tubes to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by specific test orders and protocols.
- Package specimens for transport, following all procedures necessary to maintain specimen integrity..
- Perform routine decontamination and cleaning of work areas and equipment in accordance with safety standards.
- Record maintenance data and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Update patient information and related records as needed in the laboratory or clinic systems.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of recent phlebotomy experience, with a total of 5–7 years of experience preferred.
- Experience drawing blood from patients across the age spectrum, from pediatrics to geriatrics.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume workload, including 30+ patient draws per day.
- Effective customer service skills and the ability to interact professionally and courteously with patients and clinical staff.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining specimen integrity and data accuracy.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in an outpatient clinic or similar clinical laboratory environment.
- Customer service experience in a healthcare or patient-facing setting.
- Fluency in Korean, Mandarin, or Vietnamese is a plus, especially given the patient population across multiple locations.
Work Environment
This role is based in a busy outpatient clinical laboratory setting that supports multiple providers and operates across six locations. The environment is fast-paced, with a steady flow of patients requiring efficient and accurate phlebotomy and specimen processing services. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with daytime shifts and no regular weekend hours indicated.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Duluth, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
