PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Assists in all phases of daily Lab operations with emphasis on project support. Requires the ability to work closely with the Lab manager for direction and help with ongoing supported projects.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Under limited supervision, applies technical and non-technical knowledge to perform a broad range of tasks.
  • Understand the theory behind all instrumentation and maintain proficiency in instrument operation.
  • Set up, adjust and operate as needed, laboratory equipment and instruments, some of which will include the following: oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, data acquisition systems, safety analyzers, ESD zapper, EMI chamber, Environmental chamber, pressure and flow gauges, compression/pull tester, calipers and other equipment. Specific equipment familiarity depends on applicant experience and training required.
  • Support cross-functional teams on new product development needs and manufacturing problem-solving efforts.
  • Mentor incoming Co-ops and New Hires and assist in Lab Safety Tours.
  • Ensure Laboratory housekeeping practices comply with FDA and ISO standards. Assure compliance to corporate policies and local standard operation procedures as well as domestic and international standards.
  • Maintain general housekeeping of working areas and facility.
  • Ensure calibration and proper operation of laboratory equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance/repair/ verification on all Lab test fixtures and equipment.
  • Perform procurement for Labs supplies, equipment, and chemicals.
  • Maintain SDS books and proper chemical labeling.
  • Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and working practices as needed.
  • Assist engineers with parts ordering for assembly, prototyping, and testing/debugging of products.
  • Interacting with Quality Engineering and Calibration for new equipment documentation and Impact analysis as needed.
  • Perform hardware/ software upgrades to existing dialysis equipment.
  • May escalate issues to the Lab Manager for resolution, as deemed necessary.
  • Assist with various facilities projects as assigned by the Lab Manager.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. with assistance as required.
SUPERVISION:
  • Reports to Lab Manager
EDUCATION:
  • Associates degree in relevant technical field preferred or minimum 3-5 years' experience in a hands-on laboratory or manufacturing setting.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • 4-6 years' related experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact cordially with all levels of organization.
  • Interacting with Quality, Calibration, Software, Clinical, Marketing, Service, Customer Service, Finance, Accounting, and IT Departments.
  • Basic knowledge of dialysis machines and flow path is helpful.
  • Assisting Project engineers with tooling and space allocation.
  • Assisting with scheduling of outside vendors for scheduled maintenance visits.
  • Performing procurement for project needs.
The rate of pay for this position will depend on the successful candidate's work location and qualifications, including relevant education, work experience, skills, and competencies.

Hourly Rate: $30 - $51
