Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Environmental Technician to perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. This role involves communicating effectively with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor representatives, and other stakeholders regarding the construction site, project requirements, and testing observation and inspection results. Additionally, the technician will transport material samples to the laboratory for further testing and analysis and prepare and submit data and observations in written and digital reports.
Responsibilities
- Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials.
- Communicate with project managers and other stakeholders regarding project requirements and results.
- Transport material samples to the laboratory for further testing.
- Prepare and submit data and observations in reports for daily transmittal.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites.
- Adhere to strict safety standards and perform pre-task planning.
- Under supervision, assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observation duties.
- Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Communicate information to the project manager and discuss the accuracy of data.
- Submit documentation and communicate results as directed.
- Maintain quality standards on all projects.
Essential Skills
- Environmental testing and engineering skills.
- Ability to perform field inspections for construction site sampling, including air, stormwater/groundwater, soil, etc.
- Capability to read civil construction plans as they relate to stormwater.
- Eligible to obtain NPDES certification (Level 1A 'Blue Card'/Level 1B 'Red Card').
- Completion of daily data reports for onsite inspections.
- Field sampling and environmental investigation skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 6 months to 2 years of relevant experience.
- Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history and MVR.
- Obtain Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire.
Work Environment
The position involves working alongside other environmental field inspectors on construction sites located from Dublin, GA to Savannah, GA. A company truck and gas card will be provided. Working hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM with some overtime, averaging 50 hours per week.
