Job Title: Power Distribution Engineer

Job Description

The Power Distribution Engineer will supervise electric utility distribution design efforts and provide support for Project Managers and others as appropriate. This role involves managing consultants involved in distribution design projects and working with Project Management to prepare and coordinate proposals, schedules, and budget estimates. The engineer will lead the Distribution Design group, ensuring profitability and quality performance targets are met or exceeded.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise electric utility distribution design efforts.
  • Team with and manage consultants involved in Distribution Design projects.
  • Prepare and coordinate proposals, schedules, and budget estimates.
  • Assign and schedule work to meet client requirements efficiently.
  • Manage the Distribution Design group to meet profitability and quality targets.
  • Hire employees, market services, and provide outstanding client service.
  • Serve as a resource for business development with clients and partners.
  • Maintain complete and accurate record keeping for all work performed.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control for all work performed.
  • Communicate and negotiate effectively with clients, agencies, and the public.
  • Possess excellent PC skills with Microsoft Office and CAD-based programs.
  • Travel as necessary to support work.
  • Administer company policies, salary administration, training, and safety.
  • Conduct employee development and performance evaluations.
  • Approve time sheets and expenses for direct reports.
  • Achieve weekly billable goals as defined by project guidelines.
  • Serve on industry committees and association groups.
  • Support upcoming projects with Joint Use experience.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum Associate Degree in Engineering (Power Delivery preferred) with 5+ years senior/lead design experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred, P.E. a plus.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively market Distribution Design services.
  • Strong understanding of electric distribution construction standards and practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of field measurement devices, survey equipment, and software applications.
  • Proficient use and knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Self-driven and able to multi-task.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Joint Use is preferred.
  • Clear and valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to drive on company time.

Work Environment

The client is currently securing office space, expected to be available before the end of the year. The dress code is business casual. Relocation assistance can be provided.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $127000.00/hr.
