Environmental Cleaning Contractor (QTS Data

Center Project)

Job Responsibilities:

Contractors will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness

throughout the construction site, ensuring all exposed interior surfaces are

free of dust and debris. Duties include:

• Cleaning all exposed interior surfaces from floor level to the building deck above.
• Performing tasks such as mopping, wiping, vacuuming, and brushing surfaces to remove dust and dirt from materials during construction.
• Utilizing equipment such as scissor lifts, boom poles, brooms, towels, and ladders for hard-to-reach areas.
• Pressure washing exterior panels, generator coverings, and flooring once installed.
• Working safely and attentively around active construction zones.
• Physical activities include standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders throughout the shift.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work 15–19 feet off the floor daily to clean server racks, trays, and structural beams.
• Must be reliable and maintain productivity—current vendors have been dismissed for lack of engagement and excessive phone use.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, or shine).

Schedule & Pay:

• Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (average). Overtime may be required based on construction needs.
• First Day: Arrive at parking lot by 5:15 AM for 5:30 AM orientation, then transition to work.
• Lunch: 30-minute unpaid lunch; pack lunch with ice pack (microwaves available, no refrigeration).
• Average Workweek: ~42 hours; occasional Saturdays required.
• Pay: $18-$22/HR based on experience

Worksite Details:

• Location: Edgewood Rd SW & 76th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
• 10-minute outdoor walk from parking lot to guard shack for daily check-in.
• Work is 90% indoors and 10% outdoors; power washing will continue through winter—dress appropriately for conditions.
• Contractors will work in teams of 4–5; teamwork is essential.
• Project duration: Through 2027.

Dress Code & PPE:

• Steel-toed boots (provided by not provided by client).
• Jeans and work-appropriate shirt (not provided by client).
• Required PPE:
  • ANSI-Z89 Hard Hat
  • ANSI-Z87 Safety Glasses
  • ANSI Safety Vest with 2-inch reflective tape
• Level 2–4 cut-resistant gloves
  • (PPE supplied by client unless contractor already owns these items.)

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Cedar Rapids,IA.
