Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Safety Professional to coordinate and administer Site Safety Programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety and occupational health standards and procedures. This role involves providing safety resource support for assigned operating units, including training and permitting. The ideal candidate will provide overall safety and health leadership to ensure all employees return 'Home Healthy – Home Safe' each shift. Travel is required for this position, and a company vehicle or allowance will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate any incident or near miss and report findings.
  • Attend and conduct safety meetings to instruct tradespersons on project safety practices and requirements.
  • Conduct written daily safety inspections of work activities and ensure compliance with safe work practices.
  • Take direction related to timely abatement and control of hazards.
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations and emergency response.
  • Conduct site inspections and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Perform job safety analysis.
  • Coach and teach safety across the region.
  • Conduct safety training.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years of construction experience, with 2 years in on-site construction safety responsibilities.
  • Specialized training relevant to the scope of work.
  • OSHA 500-hour Construction Outreach Training or greater.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety regulations and hazard control methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct safety training.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite opportunity with potential for significant overtime due to project deadlines. The current site has 7 safety professionals and 225 workers, with a requirement of one Safety Professional for every 29 workers. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment where safety is a top priority. The position will ramp up starting in February, and the site is anticipated to be active for at least four more years with additional work bids underway.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
