Data Center Field Service Technician – Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to maintain and repair diesel-powered equipment supporting data center and industrial operations. This role involves independent fieldwork at customer sites, ensuring equipment reliability through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs while delivering professional, customer-focused service.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostic inspections on diesel engines and equipment
• Service and repair generators, compressors, forklifts, trucks, and heavy machinery
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, and exhaust systems
• Replace components such as hoses, belts, filters, and batteries
• Accurately complete digital service logs, repair reports, and work orders
• Maintain safety compliance and a clean work area
• Communicate professionally with customers and jobsite personnel
• Participate in on-call rotations as required

Qualifications

• 3+ years of field service or diesel/heavy equipment experience
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to read schematics, manuals, and diagnostic data
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors
• Comfortable working independently and managing time efficiently

Work Schedule & Environment

• Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, with rotating Saturdays
• Two-person field crews
• PPE required: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.
