Cable Technician - Low Voltage

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Pay Range: Competitive, based on experience ($18-$24/hour)

Travel: Partial travel required (Cedar Rapids & Indiana Projects)

*Overview: We are seeking motivated Cable Technicians to join our team in Des Moines, Iowa. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects in data centers, commercial sites, and multi-family developments. Candidates should have experience or aptitude in low-voltage cabling and be open to partial travel to support projects across the region.

*Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test CAT6 and fiber optic cabling
• Dress and organize cables along trays and racks for clean, professional finish
• Assist with installation of access control systems, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems
• Read and interpret blueprints and project documents to determine cable routing and device placement
• Operate lifts safely to access overhead cable trays and mounting areas
• Travel to regional job sites as needed to support project demands
• Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with company procedures

*Essential Skills & Experience

• 1+ year of experience in cabling, construction, or low-voltage installation preferred
• Ability to use hand and power tools (impact drill, wire strippers, sawzall, etc.)
• Familiarity with cable testing equipment such as Fluke analyzers
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to follow blueprints
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for projects
• Able to pass drug and back ground check (Must have clean record)

• Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs and working at heights

• Monday–Friday schedule with occasional overtime depending on project needs

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, IA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
