Description:
The Data Center Technician is responsible for preparing, staging, setting up, and performing startups and shutdowns of equipment (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches) following detailed instructions, checklists, and standard protocols. This includes performing post-execution quality checks to ensure proper grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling in accordance with safety standards and Network Design Tasks (NDTs). The technician will also perform diagnostics and troubleshooting, identify root causes of issues, and replace faulty components. Responsibilities include decommissioning hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) and escalating incidents to the appropriate Data Center Technician Leads as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components
- 1+ year of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays
- Previous data center experience is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Monitor systems for equipment failures or performance issues
- Respond to error messages by troubleshooting or terminating programs
- Assist programmers and analysts with testing and debugging
- Operate software tools to load/manipulate data and generate reports
