Job Title: Maintenance TechnicianJob Description

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for building, repairing, and overhauling manufacturing equipment, jigs, and fixtures. You will assist engineers, production, and manufacturing managers with repair jobs and various projects including building maintenance and special projects.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with production and manufacturing leaders to start machines, inspect or test parts, and observe mechanical operations to troubleshoot and determine solutions.
  • Work with the design team and other engineers to install, replace, or change machines or machine parts according to specifications.
  • Build and design custom production equipment, jigs, and fixtures using off-the-shelf pieces for special projects.
  • Perform repairs, rebuilding, or overhaul work of manufacturing equipment from blueprints and company manuals.
  • Assist in cleaning up facilities following the implementation of new equipment, ensuring proper disposal of parts.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on production equipment and verify full operational status before completion.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including lockout-tagout regulations and safety audits.
  • Maintain stock of materials and equipment necessary for production and building maintenance.
  • Ensure regular and reliable attendance to support efficient plant operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • 2-year technical degree from community college or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to use tools and read blueprints and specifications.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including PLCs.
  • Attention to detail to prevent damage to machines and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance for offsite tasks.
  • Basic computer knowledge for ordering parts.

Work Environment

Work in a temperature-controlled, clean room facility assembling medical devices. The shift is from 10am-7pm, Monday to Friday, with training provided on the first shift starting at 7am. Enjoy a large break room and lockers for personal items. The dress code includes steel-toed shoes, pants, shirts, and possibly a lab coat in certain areas. The facility houses 600 employees with a dedicated maintenance team of 4-5 people.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Des Moines, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $60000.00/yr.

DP so will receive full time benefits from day one with company competitive to market place with 401k, health benefits, dental, vision, etc.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Des Moines,IA.
