Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

The role involves the analysis and design of mechanical systems for building components and construction projects. You will provide mechanical design by creating design concepts while collaborating with team members and utilizing software such as AutoCAD and REVIT. Operating within these software platforms and using engineering tools and equipment are essential to the role.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen and build relationships with clients to advance their projects.
• Possess a detailed understanding of multiple disciplines including electrical, mechanical, structural, and information systems, alongside a general knowledge of construction.
• Integrate theoretical and practical information and apply it to construction projects.
• Exhibit strong communication skills, mentoring capabilities, and understanding.
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills in complex situations.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical engineering expertise.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience in mechanical design.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years of MEP consulting experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Revit experience is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of EIT certification preferred.

Work Environment

The office is located in downtown Des Moines and houses 22 staff members across Architecture, Mechanical, and Electrical groups. It features an open space layout with low-rise desks and dual screens. Work is conducted on desktops within the office. The company is family-focused with a relaxed atmosphere, where stress balls are available and Friday afternoons are celebrated with beers. The environment is collaborative rather than competitive, with divisions working closely together. Dress code ranges from business casual to casual, allowing for slacks or jeans. The hours are flexible, typically from 8-5, accommodating family appointments or personal preferences for earlier or later starts.
