We’re looking for a mechanically inclined Machine Operator to run and oversee a bottle‑making production line from start to finish. In this hands‑on role, you’ll operate computerized equipment, monitor quality and output, and ensure finished products are packaged accurately and efficiently. If you enjoy taking responsibility, working with machinery, and being part of a tight‑knit production team, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
- Operate and monitor computer‑controlled bottle‑making equipment to maintain consistent, efficient production
- Take full ownership of the production line from manufacturing through packaging
- Monitor product quality and output, making basic adjustments as needed
- Stack and organize finished products while maintaining accurate counts
- Perform quality inspections and pull samples for lab testing per procedures
- Accurately document production data, machine settings, and any issues during your shift
- Ensure products are produced and packaged in the correct quantities and to specification
- Work collaboratively with teammates to minimize downtime and meet production goals
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all GMP and safety guidelines at all times
- Participate fully in training during the probationary period
What We’re Looking For (Required)
- 1+ year of machine operating experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with equipment and machinery
- Experience using computer‑based machine controls or interfaces
- Ability to perform quality checks and follow defined quality standards
- Solid math skills for counting, measurements, and basic production calculations
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain physically active during 12‑hour shifts
- Ability to lift 10 lbs regularly, 30 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Commitment to safety, housekeeping, and GMP compliance
Nice to Have
- Experience in manufacturing, mechanical, construction, or industrial environments
- Familiarity with GMP or other regulated production settings
- Willingness to cross‑train and learn additional production tasks
- Positive attitude and strong reliability
Schedule & Work Environment
- Fully on‑site manufacturing facility producing bottles and caps for products like shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, and hand soap
- Automated, computer‑controlled production equipment
- 12‑hour switch shifts on a rotating 2 on / 2 off / 3 on / 3 off schedule
- A/C and B/D shifts: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Training during the approximately 30‑day probation period on 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- PPE provided (ear plugs, hair nets, etc.)
- Dress code: steel‑toed boots, long pants (jeans or khakis), t‑shirt
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Iowa City, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
