Job Description
The Controlled Environments Team is seeking a motivated and responsible Greenhouse Technician to support research operations at our four-acre facility in Johnston, Iowa. In this role, you will contribute to the advancement of agricultural innovation by supporting daily greenhouse functions and research activities in a safe, professional, and compliant environment.
Responsibilities
- Diligently shoot bag in corn pollination rooms daily.
- Tassel bag and pollinate corn 1-2 times per week.
- Prepare and sort plant groupings with a high level of attention to detail.
- Transfer large plants on carts to correct room locations and specific locations within a room.
- Perform routine greenhouse sanitation tasks like discarding regulated material.
- Assist with plant care tasks such as cotton pruning.
- Drive the Tug to move plants throughout the facility.
- Proficiency in laboratory and plant science techniques.
- Experience with pollination processes.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- High degree of self-motivation and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in groups.
- Ability to drive company vehicles such as a Tug.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to learn internal research software.
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant sciences, or a related field preferred.
- Two or more years of relevant experience preferred.
- Capability to perform repetitive tasks, stand or sit for extended periods, and lift at least 30 lbs.
- Comfort working in warm, humid greenhouse conditions with year-round pollen exposure.
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional work on 1-2 weekends or holidays every 3 months, compensated with comp days. The work environment includes warm and humid greenhouse conditions, where you will be exposed to pollen year-round.

This is a Contract position based out of Johnston, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
