Job Title: Warehouse Shipping and Materials Handler
$17 for first 90 days then automatically increases to $20.50 an hour
Job Description
This role supports the consolidation and relocation of materials between warehouse buildings as one facility prepares to close by August 2026. You will handle and move boxes and other stored materials, operate basic warehouse equipment, and use computer systems and handheld scanners to track inventory and process orders in a clean, organized storage environment.
Responsibilities
- Move materials and boxes from one building to another as part of a facility relocation project.
- Process orders and handle boxes of files, books, binders, backup tapes, and other stored materials.
- Manually lift, carry, pull, stack, and arrange boxes weighing up to 50 lbs consistently and 10–40 lbs on a regular basis.
- Load, maneuver, and safely operate hand trucks and pallet jacks (electric and manual) to transport materials.
- Use a proprietary computer system to perform data entry, track orders, and determine the location of boxes.
- Operate handheld RF scanners to scan and update inventory and location information.
- Read and follow location labels, and use step ladders to access materials stored at various heights.
- Work in a highly physical environment that requires standing, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, twisting, and walking for extended periods.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle cardboard boxes in a manner that protects contents and ensures safe stacking.
- Follow established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work a Monday through Saturday schedule, meeting daily productivity and accuracy expectations, with slightly lower expectations on Saturdays.
- Collaborate with team members and demonstrate a self-motivated approach to completing assigned tasks.
Essential Skills
- Ability to consistently lift, carry, pull, and stack boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, stoop, crawl, twist, and walk for long periods of time in a physically demanding environment.
- Ability to use a computer for data entry and to navigate a proprietary order-tracking system.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow written labels, instructions, and safety information.
- Ability to safely use a step ladder and accurately read location labels.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to load and safely operate hand trucks and pallet jacks for transporting materials.
- Self-motivated work style with the ability to stay productive in a quiet, independent work setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with shrink wrapping pallets or materials.
- Experience operating electric and manual pallet jacks.
- Experience using RF scanners for inventory or order processing.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Military experience.
- Comfort working in areas that may be dusty and lined with cardboard storage boxes.

Work Environment
The role is based in a warehouse dedicated to storage and information management, with rows of cardboard boxes filled with paperwork and other materials. The facility is described as a nice, clean environment with multiple levels and long, dark rows that light up as you move through them. Certain areas can be dusty due to the nature of stored materials. The atmosphere is generally quiet, and employees may listen to music using a speaker while they work. You will use a proprietary computer system, handheld RF scanners, hand trucks, and electric/manual pallet jacks. The schedule runs Monday through Saturday, with slightly lower expectations on Saturdays, and includes two paid 15-minute breaks and one unpaid 30-minute lunch break. Safety protection and PPE are provided, and shoe vouchers support appropriate footwear for the warehouse setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Addison, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
