We are seeking two skilled Mechanical Design Engineers to join our Power Systems Division, focusing on generator sets for dealership and custom solutions. The primary objective is designing and developing full enclosure packages for large generator systems, specifically for data center applications. This is a fast-paced, high-priority initiative with aggressive timelines, requiring close collaboration with internal engineering teams and external vendors to deliver customized, integrated solutions.
Responsibilities- Design and develop complete enclosure designs for generator sets, including structural layout, sheet metal components, and integration with fuel bases.
- Incorporate electrical panels, transformers, conduit, lighting, heaters, sound insulation, airflow systems, and louvres into containerized enclosures.
- Adapt designs for mobile and stationary generators, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate on fuel base design, up to 5,000-gallon diesel tanks, and ensure compatibility with enclosure structures.
- Prepare detailed CAD models and drawings using Autodesk Inventor Pro and manage data through Vault Pro PLM.
- Support prototype build and fit-up activities targeted for the second quarter of next year.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in mechanical/electrical design for industrial equipment or power systems.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor Pro and Vault Pro, or similar software.
- Strong understanding of structural design, sheet metal fabrication, and integration of electrical components.
- Familiarity with generator systems, fuel systems, and enclosure/container design.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-changing environment with minimal starting templates.
- Background in power systems, heavy equipment, or Caterpillar products.
- Knowledge of sound attenuation, airflow/cooling systems, and compliance standards for fuel tanks.
- Experience with data center power solutions.
This role involves working in a dynamic environment that demands high adaptability and efficiency. The position requires proficiency with Autodesk Inventor Pro and Vault Pro for CAD modeling and data management. Engineers will collaborate with diverse teams and external vendors, focusing on creating innovative and customized solutions. The work involves designing for both mobile and stationary generators and ensuring designs meet industry standards and customer specifications.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Bartonville, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
