Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to manage the transportation of unfinished and finished materials using a sit-down Toyota propane forklift with a clutch brake. This role involves loading and unloading trailers, utilizing an RF scanner, and operating a forklift equipped with a touch screen computer to track product locations. Operators will handle bundles of cardboard for printing, requiring the removal of plastic wrapping and paper inserts without the use of pallets.
Responsibilities
- Operate a sit-down Toyota propane forklift with a clutch brake to transport materials.
- Load and unload trailers efficiently using an RF scanner.
- Manage bundles of cardboard for printing, including loading, staging, and unloading.
- Remove plastic wrapping and paper inserts from bundles.
- Operate machinery at a fast pace and adapt to the speed of operations.
- Load and stage bundles, and transport them to and from machinery and docks.
- Participate in wrapping and unwrapping processes as needed.
- Work off the forklift to stage materials and ensure proper flow of operations.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience operating a sit-down propane forklift.
- Proficiency in operating a clutch brake and multi-pedal system.
- Comfortable handling bundles of cardboard and products without skids or pallets.
- Experience in material handling.
- Corrugated experience is advantageous.
- Experience working in highly automated environments is a plus.

Work Environment
The work environment is highly automated with approximately 30 workers on the plant side. The facility maintains a laid-back attitude, focusing on quality. Employees are required to wear steel-toe boots. The role offers both first and second shifts, with training provided on the first shift for two weeks. Occasional Saturday work may be required, discussed on a case-by-case basis.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
