Description

Seeking a central office technician to assist with site exit efforts. In order to start the engineering process they need to conduct a thorough audit of the existing facilities. They need our assistance with providing local on site resources to conduct this audit. They will then be the local smart hands Circuit Grooms Technician. Using information provided during Audits, this team is responsible for performing circuit grooms and migrations for their carrier customers.

A grooms technician is responsible for supporting live circuit traffic migration work in these carriers networks. There will be pre wiring work in preparation for circuit grooms and support through the migration efforts. This is the process of moving live customer circuits from legacy equipment to other legacy equipment or new equipment.

Central Office technicians have this kind of experience. This work will primarily be done during the maintenance window.

The work week will be Sunday night through Friday morning. Probably 50/50 days and night work

This is a 1 year plus project

Below are details around the kind of information this technician will do for the audit portion of the project.

1.1 General Cable Audit Services

Infinera/Coriant to provide physical Network Element (NE) facility “point to point” audit, which includes: (Equipment includes ADMs, DCS, DWDM and Data Systems)

• Coax Cabling

o Equipment to DSX-3 equipment side information to be included in Detailed Inventory EXCEL spreadsheet and verified onsite

o Identifies DSX-3 to DSX-3 cross-connections

• Fiber Facilities

o Verify all fiber connections within the CenturyLink space with the Fiber Finder test equipment

o Fibers with below -46db light present will not be audited

o If there is a fiber with light connected, then document what the fiber is connected to (e.g. equipment and port) and Light Level status in Detailed Inventory EXCEL spreadsheet and verified onsite

o If access to fibers on the backside of a panel would place traffic at risk, flag and advice CenturyLink

o Identify Fiber Panel type. (EQPT, Riser, OSP, etc.)

o Verify all equipment ports, with facilities connected, are accounted for on the demarcation panel audit

o Include paths for any equipment ports that do not connect to demarcation panels (equipment to equipment facilities)

o Telemetry facilities do not need to be audited

o Riser FDP connections including the other side of the Riser connection up to where

CenturyLink space ceases

o On-site fiber labels will be recorded

 Labels will be added to unlabeled active fibers, with “From” and “To” location information

• CAT5 cabling

o Equipment to end point connections to be included in Detailed Inventory EXCEL spreadsheet and verified onsite

• DSX-3 Facility Monitoring

o Use a DS3 test equipment to monitor the DS3 signal at the DSX-3 monitor jack.

o Determine if the DS3 circuit status to be in USE or in ALARM and potentially not in use.

1.2 CRE Spreadsheet Column Layout Descriptions

1.2.1 Spreadsheet Column Labeling

• One column for “CenturyLink Circuit ID” (PRO, EON, RSI) from label.

• One column for “Notes” (other information) from label.

• If the Circuit ID is not on the Label, then note “Not on Label” in the approximate column for that fiber. The cell should not be left blank.

• If there is no Label on the fiber or panel, then note “No Label” in the approximate column for that fiber. The cell should not be left blank.

• Do not include the TO and FROM information from the label.

o Use the TO and FROM location information to identify and document the other end of the fiber in the CenturyLink space

1.2.2 Spreadsheet Column Fiber and Light/Signals

• One column for Fiber Connected – YES or NO

• A separate column for the Light Level

o Normal = above -34db

o LOW = -35db TO -45db

o NO = below -46db

• Document if a fiber is connected, or not connected, on both sides of the panel (front and back)

• Do not record the fiber direction (I/O, TX/RX).

1.3 Riser Audit Services

1.3.1 CRE CenturyLink Far-End Riser

• Audit other end of the Riser, up to where CenturyLink space ceases

• Verify the back side of the Risers correlate between the two ends of the Riser.

1.3.2 CRE Non-CenturyLink Far-End Riser

• Work with GFS for access to non-CenturyLink spaces

• Verify the back side of the Risers correlate between the two ends of the Riser

• Verify Light or Below -46db Light on each fiber

• Document positions with fibers at Far-End Riser

• Compare positions connected at each end to make sure they are correlated
