Job Title: Director of Operations
Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Director of Operations to lead and manage all aspects of our firm's construction work. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of construction drawings, permitting, contract administration, and ensuring quality control across all deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all firm work related to construction drawings, permitting, and entitlements.
  • Administer contracts and prepare addenda and construction bulletins.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, and manage closeouts and warranty reviews.
  • Assign workload and adjust staffing needs as required.
  • Direct and oversee Project Managers and Production Staff.
  • Provide expert knowledge of materials, assemblies, and technical detail solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Client Relationship Manager for production services.
  • Travel to job sites and internal meetings as needed, with project-specific travel reimbursed.
Essential Skills
  • 10-15 years of experience within the architecture industry.
  • Licensed in Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota with NCARB reciprocity.
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • In-depth understanding of building codes and energy conservation codes.
  • Expert knowledge of MEP/S/C/L disciplines.
  • Experience with industrial, office, and retail new construction and interior alterations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience as Director of Operations on prototypical projects is preferred.
  • Illinois license with self-certification certificate for the City of Chicago.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
  • Capability to work independently in a remote/hybrid setting.
  • Availability to travel to assist Project Managers in the field up to 2-3 times a month.
Work Environment

This is a fully remote role, with travel based in the Chicago and Midwest region. Candidates not local to Chicagoland may incur additional travel costs. The position offers flexible working hours based on an 8-5, 40-hour work week, with flex start and finish times. The team values mentoring, internal development, and fostering strong relationships. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/hr.
