Job Description
This role involves managing retail and restaurant projects, overseeing the client relationship from initial assessment through design concept presentations, and ensuring a positive client experience throughout the project's delivery. The Project Director will work closely with design and technical teams to shape and understand the project scope and will be responsible for presenting and collaborating with clients on approved projects. The position requires establishing and adhering to set budgets, promptly informing senior project managers or clients of any potential budget variances, and making appropriate modifications. Additionally, the role involves managing collections for assigned projects and identifying new business opportunities with existing and potential clients.
Responsibilities
- Manage the overall client relationship from initial assessment to final project delivery.
- Collaborate with design and technical teams to define project scope.
- Present and work with clients on approved projects.
- Establish and ensure adherence to project budgets.
- Inform relevant parties of any budget variances and make necessary adjustments.
- Manage collections for assigned projects and address any issues with timely collections.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Assign tasks, oversee work, and provide feedback to staff involved in the project.
Essential Skills
- 10+ years of Construction Project Management experience.
- 2-5+ years in a Director or Executive role.
- Experience in commercial projects, preferably retail or restaurant.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Building Connected, Procore, and Microsoft Project.
- Experience in writing and negotiating contracts for services, consultants, and contractors.
- Effective communication skills to manage and lead team members at all levels.
Work Environment
The position is based in a newly renovated office in the Northside of Chicago, near O'Hare, with approximately 10-15 employees. The role requires in-office presence five days a week, with occasional site visits. The office fosters a tight-knit culture and offers the opportunity to work with one of the top general contractors in the Chicagoland area.
