Position Overview
We are seeking a Contract Safety Coordinator to provide on‑site safety and health support for an active industrial/manufacturing operation in Decatur, IL. This role plays a key part in supporting and reinforcing all aspects of the site safety program through training, audits, documentation, and employee engagement across all levels of the organization.
The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced production environment while partnering closely with site leadership and safety teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily safety and health support to site employees and leadership
- Assist with hazard identification, incident investigation, and root‑cause analysis
- Track safety metrics, analyze trends, and support reporting requirements
- Conduct safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and emergency drills
- Support audits (daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual) and track corrective actions
- Maintain safety documentation, records, and compliance files
- Assist with Lockout/Tagout procedures, fall protection plans, and rescue planning
- Support safety committee activities and site safety initiatives
- Review and support purchasing of safety equipment to ensure compliance with standards
- Communicate safety expectations clearly and effectively across the site
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Industrial/manufacturing environment
- Standing, walking, bending, and climbing ladders throughout the shift
- Exposure to noise, dust, temperature variations, and uneven surfaces
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Pre‑employment physical required
- Minimal travel (0–10%)
Qualifications
- 1–5 years of safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910 and/or 1926)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for reporting and tracking
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Safety certifications preferred (OSHA 30, BCSP‑recognized certifications or actively pursuing)

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
