Job Description:
The On-Premises Infrastructure Architect is responsible for developing the strategic vision of multiple secure, resilient, and scalable hosting environments. Including but not limited to traditional data centers, retail distribution center technology, Rx fulfillment center site technology, and other on-premises deployments.
This role is primarily concerned with our self-hosted infrastructure, and ensuring it supports business goals through high availability, high performance systems with baked in observability that enables proactive monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement across deployed systems and services, as well as compliance with regulatory and operational standards.

The actual salary an employee can expect to receive, plus bonus pursuant to the terms of any bonus plan if applicable, will depend on experience, seniority, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. Key Responsibilities:
- Envision and create reference architectures for comprehensive on-premises hosting solutions for observability, compute, storage, power and cooling systems
- Advise engineering teams on implementation of observability strategies covering monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting
- Enable high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
- Collaborate with IT engineering and operations teams, facilities and security teams to align infrastructure with enterprise requirements
- Establish enterprise architecture requirements for automation, configuration management, and infrastructure as code tooling
- Advise on infrastructure lifecycle, including capacity planning and technology refresh cycles

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience in a technical engineering and/or architecture role OR High school / GED and at least 11 years of experience in a technical engineering and/or architecture role
- At least 6 years of experience developing and implementing Architecture
- Experience in domain-specific architecture concepts and emerging technologies, such as Infrastructure, Network design, compute/storage, design patterns, , frameworks, mobile and current application architectures, mobile device architectures.
- Experience creating and promoting guiding development principles and influencing development teams, business users and management in adoption of technical solutions.
- Experience in at least one of the following platforms, languages and/or related frameworks: Windows, Android, nix, Java, NodeJS (JavaScript, TypeScript)
- Experience in at least one of the following Cloud providers: Azure, GCP, AWS
- At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.
- Willing to travel up to/at least 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Past experience in designing and managing large-scale on-premises infrastructure
- Deep knowledge of physical infrastructure including observability, storage, virtualization / compute and networking as well as other physical infrastructure components
- Proficiency with observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Grafana, ELK, Splunk) and related monitoring frameworks
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA-942, ISO/IEC 27001)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience with hybrid environments and integration with cloud platforms is a plus
