Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing assembly manufacturing processes for transmission products. This role owns the full process definition, from routing creation through standard work and capacity analysis, to ensure reliable and efficient build execution in a production environment.
Responsibilities
- Create, document, and maintain standard assembly processes for transmission products.
- Develop, configure, and manage product routings within enterprise systems to support accurate planning and execution.
- Conduct process simulations to support build capacity planning and optimize resource utilization.
- Establish, maintain, and audit Standard Work to ensure consistent, repeatable, and safe assembly operations.
- Drive Lean manufacturing improvements across assembly operations to reduce waste and improve quality, cost, and delivery.
- Collaborate with operations and quality teams to support cross‑functional problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to defined manufacturing processes and standards throughout the production facility.
- Use AutoCAD or similar tools to visualize layouts and processes for improved workflow and efficiency.
- Support project management activities related to process changes, new product introductions, and production ramp‑ups.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on assembly processes.
- Demonstrated ability in process creation, documentation, and adherence within a production environment.
- Hands‑on experience with ERP routing and system setup to define and manage manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience working in a production facility, preferably in an assembly or transmission product environment.
- Project management skills to plan, coordinate, and execute process improvements and related initiatives.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD for layout design and process visualization.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting cross‑functional teams in operations and quality.
- Knowledge in supply chain or understanding of how manufacturing processes interact with supply chain activities.
- Ability to conduct process simulations and interpret results to support capacity planning and decision‑making.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at different levels within a production environment.
Work Environment
This role operates in a production facility focused on assembly operations for transmission products. The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with operations, quality, and supply chain teams on the shop floor and in an office setting, using ERP systems and AutoCAD for process definition, routing setup, and layout visualization. The environment emphasizes Lean manufacturing, standard work, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on reliable build execution, safety, and collaboration across functions.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of East Peoria, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/hr.
