Job Title: EHS Coordinator
Job Description
We are seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to oversee compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards. This role, based in Geneva, IL focuses on strategic planning, training, audits, and compliance initiatives within a manufacturing environment. The position supports continuous improvement and risk mitigation efforts, with occasional travel to Canada and Mexico.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement EHS training plans in collaboration with HR and functional teams.
- Monitor and communicate environmental legal updates to ensure compliance with evolving EHS legislation and standards.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, particularly in powder coating operations.
- Maintain and report on environmental compliance obligations.
- Implement and monitor fire/explosion protection systems and combustible dust control programs.
- Conduct noise assessments, air sampling, and manage respiratory protection programs.
- Lead chemical exposure control and toxic substance compliance programs.
- Support TIGER 7S and LEAN initiatives related to health and safety.
- Deliver onboarding and ongoing safety training, including emergency response, lockout/tagout, and spill response.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and identify competency gaps.
- Lead the Health & Safety Committee and coordinate internal communications.
- Manage workplace injury reporting, return-to-work programs, and disability management in partnership with HR.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments, industrial hygiene evaluations, and root cause analyses.
- Support incident investigations and emergency response planning.
- Recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct internal audits for EHS and 7S compliance, prepare audit reports, and track corrective actions.
- Communicate audit outcomes to leadership.
- Serve as the primary contact for environmental compliance and external audits.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies and ensure timely reporting and documentation.
Essential Skills
- Degree or diploma in Environmental, Health & Safety or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- English proficiency.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- SAP experience is an asset.
- Spanish language skills are an asset.
- Open to entry-level candidates with internships or 1-2 years of experience.
- Passport preferred for occasional travel.
Work Environment
The facility is very clean and bright, having recently added a new facility to increase production. The role requires occasional work outside standard hours to align with production shifts. Physical requirements include climbing stairs/ladders and lifting up to 50 lbs. The position is on-site for five days a week, with some flexibility to accommodate other commitments.
