Job Title: Furniture Designer


Job Description

As a Furniture Designer, you will be responsible for project programming to determine occupancy and project requirements. You will develop and present design solutions, outline details, standard practices, and optimize space. You will execute multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy and efficiency, create drawings, renderings, and finish presentations, and create power and communication plans for powered furniture. Additionally, you will work directly with manufacturers for custom capabilities and provide final costing to clients for approval. You will review bills of materials for accuracy and ordering, manage the project in coordination with the operations team, and supervise on-site installation through punch list completion.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and present design solutions.
  • Outline details, standard practices, and space optimization.
  • Execute multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Create drawings, renderings, and finish presentations.
  • Create power and communication plans for powered furniture.
  • Work directly with manufacturers for custom capabilities.
  • Provide final costing to clients for approval.
  • Review Bills of Materials for accuracy and ordering.
  • Manage projects in coordination with the operations team.
  • Supervise on-site installation and manage project through punch list completion.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of commercial furniture specification experience.
  • Experience in furniture design and specifying furniture for commercial interior projects.
  • Proficiency in interior design, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Procore.
  • Ability to create furniture specifications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design.
  • Deep understanding of building codes, ADA regulations, and electrical codes.
  • Strong critical thinking and time management skills.

Work Environment

The work environment is a hybrid setup located in Lombard, with office days on Monday and Wednesday, and a flexible third day. You will have the opportunity to work remotely for two days a week. The office is newly renovated, featuring open seating and a small kitchenette, providing a space that showcases the design team's creativity. Projects are primarily in the Chicagoland area, with about 50-60% of the portfolio consisting of repeat clients. The design team is small and highly collaborative, utilizing Revit for their projects, and training will be provided if necessary.
