Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

This role involves performing deburring and finishing operations on metal parts post-machining. The process is essential to remove small imperfections known as burrs, which can affect the safety, functionality, and assembly fit of manufactured parts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform deburring and finishing operations on metal parts after machining.
  • Use hand tools, pneumatic grinders, and small power tools to smooth surfaces.
  • Inspect parts visually to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Follow blueprints and work instructions to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to company safety policies.
  • Communicate with machinists and quality inspectors to resolve issues promptly.

Essential Skills

  • Deburring, polishing, and grinding skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with measuring tools and inspection techniques.
  • Experience in manufacturing inspection and quality control.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and ability to work with small precision components.
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading and basic measurement tools preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or metal finishing is a plus, but entry-level candidates may be considered.
  • Strong reliability and attendance are emphasized as key success factors.

Work Environment

The position is on the 1st shift, from 6 am to 2:30 pm, totaling 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required as needed. The role is based in a family-owned business with a 130,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Union, Illinois, equipped with over 90 pieces of manufacturing equipment, including advanced machining centers. The company operates three shifts, 24/7, and serves diverse markets such as hydraulics, agriculture, medical, and defense. It is an ITAR-compliant and federally registered contractor.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marengo, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
