Job Description
The Material Coordinator is responsible for managing the flow of materials across various departments within the factory, including shipping and receiving. This role ensures that production personnel have the necessary parts to produce desired products, oversees inventory accuracy and timeliness, identifies production schedule problems, and suggests improvements. The coordinator will also work with broader teams and may supervise hourly material handlers, stock chasers, or truckers.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the procurement, expediting, production, and delivery of materials on time for multiple departments.
- Manage the movement of rejected material to the source and recommend procedures for maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Identify and correct root causes of material shortages, providing recommendations for solutions.
- Utilize the Master Schedule to create and distribute daily production schedules.
- Process transactions for inbound/outbound materials and audit material replenishment cycles and accuracy.
- Resolve inventory errors and expedite parts to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Implement outputs from the engineering release and change management process.
- Research and investigate material flow issues, ensuring timely storage of critical parts.
- Maintain and correct inventory daily for negative primes, reporting findings for corrective actions.
- Assist with trailer moves in PINC yard management and monitor shipping sequences in TRAKKER.
- Handle billing requests for outbound loads and evaluate quality-oriented issues with outbound parcels.
- Resolve inventory discrepancies discovered by employees and ensure inventory accuracy.
- Monitor Days of Supply for materials stored off-site and order materials when necessary.
- Perform storage audits and investigate unresolved picks before submitting back orders.
- Monitor short stocks for timely replenishment and ensure compliance with safety policies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the department and assist with mobile equipment maintenance.
Essential Skills
- Experience with ERP systems and material planning.
- Proficiency in SAP and MS Office.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to use Power BI for data analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with Deere Gator for facility navigation.
- Experience in supply chain or logistics is a plus.
Work Environment
This position operates on a first shift schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. It requires 50% office work and 50% shop floor activities. Metatarsals are required due to the nature of the work environment. The facility is located in the Quad City area, Milan, IL, specifically within the Parts Distribution Center.
