Job Description

As a Civil CAD Technician, you will produce and draft foundational 2D basemaps and plan sheets that support gas distribution and transmission projects using GIS exports, aerial imagery, survey data, and other provided sources. You will create drawing sets that serve as the foundation for distribution and transmission projects, ensuring drafting standards are met, including symbols, line types, text styles, and annotations. Collaboration with engineers and senior CAD technicians/designers will be essential to clarify project scope, resolve issues, and deliver precise basemap representations, maintaining compliance through the redline process.

Responsibilities

• Produce and draft 2D basemaps and plan sheets for gas distribution and transmission projects.
• Create drawing sets for distribution and transmission projects.
• Apply and ensure drafting standards are met.
• Collaborate with engineers and senior CAD technicians/designers to clarify project scope and resolve issues.
• Contribute to CAD standards development and drafting tools.
• Visit the field quarterly to visually assess projects.
• Perform additional assignments to advance departmental and organizational objectives.

Essential Skills

• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D Basics.
• Ability to read and understand CAD drawings, schematics, and maps.
• 0-2 years of experience with drafting preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• AutoCAD Certification is a plus.
• Experience with utility drafting, base mapping, and gas distribution.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Naperville, IL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
