Job Description

Join a leading metals company where large coils of metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and steel are transformed into smaller coils or large sheets. As part of a Union shop, you will gain union membership after 90 days. Initially, you will start as a packer, learning to package and operate the machine, with the opportunity to become a titled machine operator.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery to cut large coils of metal into smaller coils or sheets.
• Use a forklift and overhead crane to load and unload coils.
• Start by performing packing duties, placing metal on crates for loading.
• Undergo cross-training in forklift, crane, and machinery operations.
• Ensure no lifting of items over 50 lbs without assistance.

Essential Skills

• Experience in manufacturing.
• Willingness to work required hours.
• Comfortable working with large metal coils.
• Basic knowledge of English (bi-lingual is acceptable).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with machine setup.
• Experience working with metal coils.
• Experience working in a Union environment.

Work Environment

Work in a facility with 30 production employees, equipped with overhead cranes for loading coils into machines or trucks. Participate in the carpentry shop to create crates for metal products. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM, with optional shifts on Saturdays.

This is a Permanent position based out of Northbrook, IL.

The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr.
