Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Project Engineer
Job Description
This role is integral to the development and enhancement of electric motor systems for large mining trucks. You will be a pivotal part of designing and manufacturing traction motors, generators, and retarding grids, contributing to new product initiatives and ongoing design improvements.
Responsibilities
- Lead design control for electric traction motors, generators, and retarding grids.
- Execute 3D modeling, drawing creation, and component release processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across design and manufacturing.
- Travel occasionally (up to 25%) to a manufacturing facility in Mexico to support engineering and process changes.
- Analyze technical challenges, implement design changes, and influence manufacturing improvements.
- Participate in field failure analyses and propose design enhancements for vibration, fatigue, and thermal performance.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3–7+ years of relevant experience; new graduates will not be considered.
- Experience in 3D modeling (CREO preferred).
- Proficiency in FEA, EM and thermal analysis, CFD, and rotating component design.
- Familiarity with electric motor manufacturing processes such as brazing and coil forming.
- Knowledge of PPAPs and PCNs.
- Strong command of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in electric motor design or manufacturing is ideal.
- Comfortable transitioning between design and manufacturing responsibilities.
- Spanish language skills are a strong plus.
- CAT experience is beneficial.
Work Environment
You will be part of a collaborative 13-member team that integrates design and manufacturing functions. The role involves frequent interaction with a manufacturing site based in Mexico. We provide supportive onboarding tailored to specific systems and tools used in the company.
