Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Project Engineer


Job Description

This role is integral to the development and enhancement of electric motor systems for large mining trucks. You will be a pivotal part of designing and manufacturing traction motors, generators, and retarding grids, contributing to new product initiatives and ongoing design improvements.


Responsibilities

  • Lead design control for electric traction motors, generators, and retarding grids.
  • Execute 3D modeling, drawing creation, and component release processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across design and manufacturing.
  • Travel occasionally (up to 25%) to a manufacturing facility in Mexico to support engineering and process changes.
  • Analyze technical challenges, implement design changes, and influence manufacturing improvements.
  • Participate in field failure analyses and propose design enhancements for vibration, fatigue, and thermal performance.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–7+ years of relevant experience; new graduates will not be considered.
  • Experience in 3D modeling (CREO preferred).
  • Proficiency in FEA, EM and thermal analysis, CFD, and rotating component design.
  • Familiarity with electric motor manufacturing processes such as brazing and coil forming.
  • Knowledge of PPAPs and PCNs.
  • Strong command of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in electric motor design or manufacturing is ideal.
  • Comfortable transitioning between design and manufacturing responsibilities.
  • Spanish language skills are a strong plus.
  • CAT experience is beneficial.

Work Environment

You will be part of a collaborative 13-member team that integrates design and manufacturing functions. The role involves frequent interaction with a manufacturing site based in Mexico. We provide supportive onboarding tailored to specific systems and tools used in the company.
