Job Description
As an ID OD Grinder, you will be responsible for setting up hobbing machines, conducting part inspections using Vari-Roll, pin measurement, and visual checks, and expediting parts to the next operation. Your role will involve maintaining a clean and organized department and work area, effectively communicating with coworkers and supervisors, and determining when hob cutters need replacement or re-sharpening. You will also assist in determining tooling and fixturing needs, take parts for inspection when necessary, and analyze blueprints and travelers. Completing all necessary paperwork accurately and promptly is also a crucial part of this role.
Responsibilities
- Set up hobbing machines.
- Conduct part inspections using Vari-Roll, pin measurement, and visual checks.
- Expedite parts to the following operation.
- Maintain a clean and organized department and work area.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
- Determine when hob cutters need replacement or re-sharpening.
- Assist in determining tooling and fixturing needs.
- Take parts to inspection when necessary.
- Use inspection methods to determine size changes.
- Analyze blueprints and travelers.
- Complete necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- 5+ years of job shop precision OD and ID Cylindrical Grinding experience.
- Proficiency in setting up machines and running more than one machine while maintaining required run times.
- Experience with CNC grinders, calipers, micrometers, metal finishing, and inspection.
- Ability to use micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators for part inspection.
- Knowledge of T/K gear solver.
- Understanding of all departmental machine capabilities.
- Basic gear inspection equipment knowledge and skills.
- Basic materials knowledge.
- Ability to set up SPC Gage Talker.
- Strong communication skills to train others as needed.
- Basic math and geometry skills.

Work Environment
Work in a clean and temperature-controlled environment at 72 degrees. The shift typically runs from 6 am to 4 pm, with occasional work after the contract duration, totaling approximately 50 hours a week.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roscoe, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $15.00 - $32.00/hr.
