Machine Set-Up Technician
Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Machine Set-Up Technician, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring our production processes run smoothly and efficiently. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with the ability to set up and operate various machinery, troubleshoot issues, and maintain equipment to meet our high-quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up all assigned machinery, including presses, according to work instructions.
- Check work instructions to ensure accurate settings for each job.
- Inspect tooling and equipment for overloads or improper maintenance, and report issues to the foreman.
- Run production samples and troubleshoot to ensure products meet customer specifications.
- Measure products using gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other tools as specified in work instructions.
- Visually inspect production parts for defects.
- Separate materials used during setup from the production run.
- Train new operators on production setup and assign proper PPE.
- Support safety and lean initiatives by adhering to OSHA guidelines and seeking efficiency improvements.
- Address non-conformance issues from production runs.
- Report machine maintenance issues to the maintenance department.
- Sample new production runs and complete pre-production approval processes.
- Return all tools, gauges, and parts to proper storage areas.
- Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Inventory and order supplies and tools for efficient production runs.
- Experience with punch press, CNC, blueprint reading, lathe operation, and machine setup.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and using calipers and other measuring tools.
- Setup experience with press brake.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a set-up technician or in-house experience with a recommendation for promotion.
- Ability to complete TMA training programs applicable to the position.
- Ability to pass company tests in English, safety, and math.
- Knowledge of safety programs, including lockout/tagout and hazCom.
- Proficiency in conveying written and verbal instructions to production personnel.
- Familiarity with department machines, equipment, processes, and documentation.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Schiller Park, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
