Job Description
Join a leading local manufacturer, part of a reputable larger manufacturing parent company, specializing in the production of sewage and vacuum tank trucks for municipalities across the nation. As a Hydraulic Design Engineer, you will be a part of a dynamic team of design engineers, working on innovative products with hands-on troubleshooting experience in complex hydraulic systems.
Responsibilities
- Design hydraulic systems for both new and existing products.
- Use engineering tools to analyze hydraulic systems to ensure they meet pressure, flow, safety, and quality requirements.
- Communicate and coordinate with suppliers to develop specifications for products and components requiring engineering input.
- Develop project plans with contributions from engineering, marketing, and production teams.
- Collaborate with production, manufacturing engineering, lab supervision, marketing, service, and engineering personnel during project implementation.
- Prepare and review comprehensive engineering change packages, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Utilize departmental CAD system and office software in line with company standards and procedures.
- Coordinate project activities and report progress and status to engineering, marketing, and production teams.
- Participate in the cost reduction process as needed.
- Evaluate product or product modifications to assess performance and user satisfaction, which may involve travel to field locations and trade shows.
- Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects as required.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in design and/or engineering.
- Experience with mobile equipment, project management, and engineering management.
- Proficiency in written and oral communication skills and general computer literacy.
- Experience in 2D schematics required; AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex hydraulic systems.
- Team-oriented mindset.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Capability in hydraulic systems design with component selection.
Work Environment
Work primarily in an office setting with opportunities to engage in hands-on troubleshooting in the troubleshooting bay. The role offers 20 remote workdays, with the expectation to be onsite 5 days a week. The environment fosters collaboration and problem-solving with installers and operators, providing variation in design requirements and challenges.
