Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician (2nd and 3rd Shift)
Job Description
This role focuses on troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial equipment and machinery in a high-volume manufacturing facility that produces drywall from raw materials. You will maintain and improve the reliability of conveyor systems, milling machines, ovens, and related mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment while supporting a robust preventive maintenance program. New hires will begin on 1st shift for training before transitioning to their assigned shift.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial equipment and machinery, including conveyor systems, milling machines, ovens, and associated components.
- Perform mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance on production and facility equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Maintain, repair, and install belt conveyors, screw conveyors, air compressors, pumps, burners, and blowers that are critical to the production process.
- Execute and support a structured preventive maintenance program to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and basic machining tasks to repair or modify equipment and structural components as needed.
- Conduct general facility installation, maintenance, and repair work to support overall plant operations.
- Troubleshoot issues in a heavy industrial environment, identifying root causes and implementing effective long-term solutions.
- Work safely around large ovens, hot surfaces, and dusty areas, following all safety procedures and using proper protective equipment.
- Climb stairs and access multiple levels of the facility, including areas up to six stories tall, to inspect and service equipment.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to prioritize work orders and minimize disruption to manufacturing operations.
- Be available to work overtime after scheduled shifts as needed, including occasional weekends.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in an industrial setting.
- Proven experience in fabrication, including welding and basic machining for equipment repair and modification.
- Demonstrated experience working with belt conveyors, screw conveyors, air compressors, pumps, burners, and blowers.
- Experience participating in or executing a preventive maintenance program for industrial equipment.
- 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience specifically in rougher, heavy industrial environments such as metals or similarly loud and demanding facilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues on heavy equipment and industrial machinery.
- Comfort working in hot, dusty, and dirty conditions, including around large industrial ovens and liquid material processes.
- Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs and work at elevated heights within a multi-story facility.
- Willingness and ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift and stay after shift for overtime when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Welding and fabricating experience especially preferred for 3rd shift team add.
- Experience working with drywall or similar continuous-process manufacturing equipment is beneficial.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions under time pressure.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, maintenance procedures, and technical documentation.
- Solid communication skills to coordinate effectively with maintenance, production, and supervisory personnel.
- Commitment to safety practices in a heavy industrial environment.

Work Environment
This position is based in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility , involving large ovens and extensive conveying, milling systems, and specalized industrial heaters/ovens. The work environment is dusty and can become very hot, particularly in areas near the ovens and during the summer months. You should expect to get dirty, as the process begins with liquid material that can splash onto clothing and equipment. The facility includes areas up to six stories tall, requiring frequent stair climbing and work at elevated levels. One opening is available on 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.), and one opening is available on 3rd shift, with all new hires starting on 1st shift (6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., Monday–Friday) for several weeks of training before transitioning to their designated shift. Occasional overtime after regular shifts, including rare weekend work, may be required. Standard industrial safety attire and protective equipment are expected, appropriate for a loud, rough, and high-activity production environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
