Immediately Hiring: Sr Controls Engineer
Overview
We’re seeking a seasoned Controls Engineer to lead the design and implementation of advanced automation and mechanical systems that drive innovation in our manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on role ideal for an engineer with deep expertise in robotic cell design and PLC-based automation, capable of taking projects from concept to commissioning. As a key member of our Industrial Engineering team, you’ll support strategic initiatives including tooling development, process automation, cost reduction, and new product integration. Expect a dynamic split of responsibilities: 50% mechanical design and 50%
electrical controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Integrate Automation Systems: Combine mechanical engineering with control systems (PLC, HMI, motion control) to build robust automation solutions.
- Develop Mechanical Equipment: Create fixtures, robotic cells, conveyors, and custom machines tailored to production needs.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with the Industrial Engineering Supervisor and other teams to identify and implement cutting-edge technologies.
- Support Capital Projects: Evaluate technical feasibility, ROI, and vendor proposals for new automation investments.
- Ensure System Reliability: Align automation systems with safety, quality, and production goals.
- Manage Projects End-to-End: Oversee planning, budgeting, design, testing, and commissioning of automation projects.
- Contribute to Strategic Decisions: Participate in meetings for new product launches and equipment specifications.
- Coordinate with Maintenance: Ensure long-term system performance and serviceability.
- Stay Ahead of Trends: Represent the company at trade fairs and industry events to explore emerging technologies.
Additional Qualifications
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and vision systems
- Proven ability to manage complex technical projects and cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., OSHA) and best practices in machine design
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills focused on scalable solutions

- Training Opportunity: Transition into the role of the current robotics engineer (departing in 3 months)
