Job Description
As an Assembly Technician, you will contribute to the construction of metal frames for large switchboards in a production setting. Your primary duties will include full assembly and basic wire harness assembly on each unit, with a focus on repetitive tasks. The process begins at a workbench equipped with a tape measure and blueprint. Parts will be pre-staged for you, allowing you to concentrate solely on assembly and wiring. Using hand tools and a blueprint, you will build custom switchboards per customer requests, ensuring the quality of the assembly. Once assembly is complete, you will use a simple schematic to assemble a wire harness and mount it on the unit.
Responsibilities
- Build metal frames for large switchboards in a production bay.
- Complete full assembly and basic wire harness assembly on each unit.
- Utilize hand tools and blueprints to construct custom switchboards.
- Ensure the quality of assembly as per customer requests.
- Assemble wire harnesses using simple schematics.
Essential Skills
- High attention to detail.
- Previous assembly experience in a manufacturing environment or solid mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency in reading a tape measure and using a power drill.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds as needed.
- Willingness to work at heights of 90 inches off the ground using a small step ladder.
- Comfortable with awkward or uncomfortable positions, including sitting, squatting, and kneeling.
- Experience reading blueprints is preferred.
- Must have own steel or composite toe footwear.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proven mechanical aptitude, particularly in small parts assembly and wiring while reading blueprints.
- Experience working with hands in a mechanical setting or side jobs.
Available Shift & Pay
- 1st shift: 7:30AM - 4:00PM, Monday - Friday
- $18-$21 based on experience

Work Environment
The work environment is notably clean and bright, with excellent lighting to assist in seeing small parts and wires. It is a quiet setting, with the loudest noise typically being a power drill. Employees can listen to headphones, and the dress code is casual, allowing jeans and sweatshirts. The role is largely individual, requiring self-motivation, but employees will not be constantly monitored after training. The shift is 1st shift, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with little to no overtime expected. Personal protective equipment such as steel toes, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection in some areas is required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brookston, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
