Job Title: Construction Inspector
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Construction Inspector to provide on-site representation during the construction of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role involves observing field activities, monitoring progress and quality, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the duration of each project.
Responsibilities
- Remain on the jobsite daily throughout active construction.
- Conduct on-site observations to ensure contractor work aligns with plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Maintain detailed daily reports, logs, markups, and other project documentation.
- Review and track progress schedules, shop drawings, samples, and contractor submittals.
- Attend preconstruction, progress, and coordination meetings with the contractor and engineer.
- Support jobsite safety programs and follow required protocols.
- Review contractor pay applications and verify quantities.
- Coordinate with the assigned engineer and communicate field issues, recommending solutions as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills
- Professional experience in the construction and/or construction inspection of wet utility systems (water lines, sanitary sewer lines, storm sewer, water/wastewater treatment plants).
- Experience with a civil consulting firm or from the construction contractor side is ideal.
- Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specifications.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and construction reporting software.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and stay overnight as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with INDOT construction inspection is a plus.
- Experience in overseeing pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, air testing, leak testing, chlorination & de-chlorination (disinfection), vacuum testing, and mandrel testing.
- RPRs or Construction Inspectors with water/wastewater utilities inspection experience.
- Construction Foremen, Leads, or Managers with 5+ years in wet utilities or treatment plant construction.
Work Environment
The role involves overnight travel, depending on project location, with mileage reimbursement at $0.70 per mile. Inspectors are encouraged to stay close to home when possible, but must travel as required by projects. Lodging in hotels or apartments is provided, along with a per diem of $40/day for meals. Standard construction hours are 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with the expectation to work over 50 hours per week during peak periods.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Crown Point, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
