Job Description

As an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, and performing preventive maintenance on various equipment including conveyors, pumps, mixers, and cranes. You will engage in welding and fabrication tasks, read and interpret blueprints, and utilize cutting torch and plasma cutter. A strong understanding of mechanical and technical fundamentals is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on conveyors, centrifugal pumps, diaphragm pumps, mixers, overhead cranes, and lighting systems.
  • Conduct welding and fabrication tasks.
  • Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Utilize cutting torch and plasma cutter effectively.
  • Understand mechanical fundamentals such as mechanics, lubrication, and maintenance documents.
  • Perform mechanical power transmission repairs including replacing belts, bearings, chains, shafts, sprockets, and gearboxes.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and apply basic hydraulic principles.
  • Apply pneumatic principles in pneumatic systems including compressors, air treatment, and control valves.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience in wiring and electronics.
  • Proficiency in preventive maintenance.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills, particularly with gearboxes, hydraulics, and pumps.
  • Expertise in welding and fabrication.
  • Millwright skills including mechanical, hydraulics, welding, and blueprint reading.
  • Experience with motor/pump alignment and installation of welded, threaded, and PVC piping.

Work Environment

Uniforms will be provided. The team consists of 14 maintenance employees, 4 electricians, and 10 millwrights. The facility hosts 140 employees. Enjoy onsite kitchen facilities with limited local food options. The position follows an 8-week shift rotation after training on 1st shift for 2-3 months, will work 6 weeks on 1st shift, 1 week on 2nd shift, and 1 week on 3rd shift then start over again.

This is a Permanent position based out of East Chicago, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $63107.20 - $69118.40/yr.
