Job Description
This temporary first-shift Shipping and Receiving Worker role supports a small warehouse distribution center in Elkhart, IN. The position runs approximately 4–6 months with the possibility of becoming a long-term permanent role. You will handle a variety of warehouse functions, including receiving, stocking, order picking, packing, and shipping, while ensuring accuracy, safety, and timely order fulfillment.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of warehouse duties, including receiving incoming goods, stocking inventory, order filling, packaging, and shipping.
- Safely and accurately pick the correct products for each order using established procedures.
- Verify that all picked products match order requirements and are packaged securely in appropriate quantities and containers.
- Ensure all bags, boxes, and packages are labeled accurately and are ready for shipping or distribution.
- Confirm that shipping orders match packing slips before loading and dispatching shipments.
- Use appropriate shipping lines and methods to process and load packages for outbound delivery.
- Assist with inventory-related tasks, including counting bins and verifying inventory accuracy.
- Identify, communicate, and help resolve issues related to damaged goods, shortages, inventory discrepancies, or specification concerns.
- Work collaboratively with team members to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.
- Follow all safety guidelines and warehouse procedures to promote a safe working environment.
Essential Skills
- Ability to perform shipping and receiving tasks in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as needed.
- Capability to count and track the number of bins and items being put away accurately.
- Experience or comfort with picking, packing, and general material handling tasks.
- Willingness to learn and be trainable on warehouse processes and systems.
- Ability to work effectively as a team player in a small warehouse setting.
- Reliability and consistency in attendance and punctuality.
- Basic familiarity with warehouse inventory practices and shipping and receiving workflows.
Work Environment
The role is based in a small warehouse distribution center in Elkhart, IN that supplies nuts and bolts to the marine industry. You will work on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The environment involves typical warehouse activities such as picking, packing, inventory handling, and loading shipments, and may include the use of RF scanners and material handling equipment. The facility emphasizes safe handling of products and accurate inventory practices. Steel-toe boots are recommended as part of appropriate warehouse attire, and you should be comfortable with regular lifting and standing throughout the shift.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Elkhart, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
