Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Process Engineering Supervisor to join our team in Bluffton, IN. This role involves organizing, guiding, and controlling continuous improvement activities in production processes based on the WMS system. The successful candidate will identify losses and waste, define projects to address major losses, apply appropriate tools to reduce or eliminate these losses, and verify the results achieved. The position also requires maximizing machine and labor utilization, balancing production lines, and conducting productivity improvement work and loss/waste reduction efforts.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of 8 in the process engineering group, ensuring effective collaboration and guidance.
- Coordinate and guide studies to identify losses and waste in industrial processes.
- Guide the formation of improvement project teams and utilize correct tools to reduce or eliminate losses and waste.
- Develop technical and operational specifications for manufacturing processes based on production flows/methods.
- Coordinate the development of action plans to optimize resources such as machinery, tools, materials, and labor.
- Detect production deficiencies and bottlenecks and develop action plans to address them.
- Coordinate the implementation of new products within the production process, assessing deadlines and monitoring results.
- Define and monitor project performance indicators, verifying planned and achieved results.
- Prepare expense budgets, investments, staffing charts, and annual activity schedules for the section.
- Plan, prepare, and conduct annual evaluations of employees.
- Participate in purchasing decisions for components and raw materials used in equipment manufacturing.
- Manage multiple, parallel projects using proven project management techniques.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Familiarity with Lean Principles, 5S, Kaizen Events, Value Stream Mapping, and Six Sigma.
- 5+ years of production/shop floor/manufacturing experience in a machining and assembly environment.
- Ability to develop SOPs and work instructions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Previous experience leading reports.
Work Environment
Work hours are from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The facility has 100 employees, with a process engineering team currently comprising 6 engineers, looking to add 3 more. The facility is part of a Brazilian-based company with 20,000 employees globally and multiple sites across the USA. The client is a union shop, though this will not directly impact the role as duties primarily involve working on the floor and with machinery.
