Job Title: BMS Controls Technician


Job Description

The BMS Controls Technician plays a key role in the successful installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of building management systems (BMS) in critical infrastructure environments. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with experience in low voltage electrical systems, troubleshooting, and control wiring. The candidate is expected to work under the direction of a Technical Field Manager, collaborating with engineers, commissioning agents, and trade partners to ensure standards for quality and safety are upheld.


Responsibilities

  • Interpret and follow engineered control system blueprints and specifications.
  • Perform device configuration, wiring termination, and network installation.
  • Execute point-to-point inspections and perform functional testing of control systems.
  • Replace faulty equipment, sensors, or wiring in coordination with field leadership.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years experience with building automation systems (e.g., HVAC controls, BMS/BAS).
  • Understanding of building automation principles, low voltage controls, and sequencing logic.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety protocols and OSHA standards.
  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts and device addressing (IP, BACnet, Modbus).
  • Troubleshooting electrical control circuits and low voltage.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, system schematics, and control drawings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Niagara N4 is a plus.
  • Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree.

Work Environment

The work environment includes indoor and outdoor construction site environments, with occasional office work in the Worthington location for training and certifications. All work is within the Columbus area.
