Job Description

This position is within a women's health clinic connected to a hospital. The clinic manages a patient volume of approximately 120-150 patients monthly, with variation dependent on walk-ins and scheduled appointments. As you become familiar with the different providers in the clinic, your patient volume will adjust accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers by rooming patients, obtaining blood pressure, documenting signs and symptoms, taking weight and temperature, and completing medical history documentation (approximately 30% of time).
  • Set up for and assist providers with miscellaneous tasks and tests such as urinalyses, strep/flu/pregnancy tests, and other tests as directed by the provider (approximately 25% of time).
  • Schedule tests, radiology exams, and appointments with specialists as requested, enter check-in/check-out information in the EMR, perform prior authorizations, and notify office referral specialists when insurance referrals are required (approximately 10% of time).
  • Assist providers with office exams and collect height, weight, BMI, and other pertinent information, and update immunization records (approximately 10% of time).
  • Conduct phone triage including handling patient medical questions, test results, medication refills, call-backs to patients, and prescription refills (approximately 10% of time).
  • Perform walk-in patient duties as needed, such as triage, blood pressures, urinalyses, medication sample requests, and collecting patient history (approximately 10% of time).
  • Function as a resource to visitors, providers, and staff by greeting everyone promptly and courteously, and supporting the mission and values of the organization (approximately 10% of time).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Practice Administrator, practice site provider, and/or the VP of Physician Practices (approximately 5% of time).
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and organizational policies and procedures, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions (approximately 5% of time).

Essential Skills

  • Active CMA (AAMA), RMA, or CCMA certification required.
  • Successful completion of and graduation from a recognized medical assistant training course or equivalent experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience working as a CMA.
  • Experience within family practice or women's health.
  • Experience with POC testing.
  • Experience with EMR systems.
  • An upbeat, positive, outgoing attitude.

Work Environment

The work environment is a temperature-controlled clinic with easy access to parking. You will work with a team comprising two providers and one other Medical Assistant. The team sees approximately 130 patients daily. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with no weekend work and holidays off. The clinic fosters a friendly culture where colleagues greet each other warmly. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.22 - $23.00/hr.
