Job Description
Join a dedicated outpatient clinic connected to a hospital, where you can learn and grow within a supportive organization. This position is working within a podiatry outpatient clinic that is connected to the hospital, which will also include supporting the wound care facility as well. The team is looking for someone who is looking to learn and grow within an organization. There is a patient volume of approximately 120-150 patients monthly depending on walk ins and those scheduled.
- Rooming patient, obtaining blood pressure, documenting signs/symptoms, taking weight and temperature as well as completing medical history documentation.
- Setting up for and assisting providers with other misc. tasks, as well as assist with other tests: urinalyses, strep/flu/pregnancy
- tests, and other misc. tests as directed by the provider/dependent upon the specialty practice. Each of the following will consume approx. 10% of your
- time:
- Schedules tests, radiology exams, appointments with specialists as requested, enter all information pertaining to
- Check-in/check-out in the EMR. Performs prior authorizations as needed. Notifies office referral specialist when insurance referral is required.
- Assists provider with office exams and collecting the following: height, weight, BMI and other pertinent misc. information. Updates immunization records.
- Phone triage when scheduled- including: patient medical questions, test results, medication refills, and call-backs to patients, also includes faxes/calls/transmits prescription refills as directed.
- Performs walk-in patient duties as needed, which may include but not limited too: triage, blood pressures, urinalyses, medication sample requests, collecting patient history to relay to the provider, etc.
- Functions as a resource to visitors, providers and staff- greets everyone promptly and courteously.
- Communicates clearly and continuously supports the Mission and Values of the organization.
- Performs additional duties not addressed here as assigned by the Practice Administrator, practice site provider and/or the VP of Physician Practices.
- Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Hospital policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
Essential Skills
- Active CMA (AAMA), RMA, or CCMA certification.
- Successful completion of and graduation from a recognized medical assistant training course or equivalent experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in medical assisting, patient care, and customer service.
- Experience in rooming patients and handling EMR systems.
- Ability to take vitals, manage appointment scheduling, and use electronic health records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience working as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
- Experience within family practice or pediatrics is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Point of Care (POC) testing.
- An upbeat, positive, and outgoing attitude with a willingness to ensure consistent patient flow and positive interactions.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
Work Environment
Work in a temperature-controlled environment Franklin, alongside a team of two providers and one other Medical Assistant.
The team sees approximately 130 patients daily. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with no weekend work and holidays off.
