The role of Inverter Project Engineer involves expanding and enhancing inverter module production within the xEV automotive space. This position is crucial for the development of new equipment and production lines, ensuring high-performance and sustainable solutions for Electric Vehicles.
Responsibilities- Bring new equipment and production lines into the plant, playing a significant role in the entire process.
- Act as a hybrid project manager and engineer, leading projects with a group of engineers.
- Train and develop knowledge base of the company's processes in Indiana prior to assignment in Japan.
- Study Japan's current inverter lines, report back data, communicate technical concerns, and work on future new model projects with Japanese Project Engineer members.
- Serve as a liaison of information between Japan and the department.
- Upon return from Japan, lead projects for the products worked on in Japan, focusing heavily on project management tasks like setting schedules, budgeting, and collaboration with various departments.
- Work extensively with dispensing, robotics/vision, screw driving/fastening, assembly, and testing equipment.
- Ensure equipment specifications align with regional requirements and confirm installation meets required specifications.
- Ensure safety of equipment for all associates and verify that all product requirements are met through online testing, including daily and validation.
- Assist other departments in setting up testing trials and experiments for customer or internal issues, including countermeasure activity as needed.
- Manage small groups and individuals.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience and education.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing or being part of multi-million dollar projects in a manufacturing environment, with ability to prepare schedules, budget, and generate reports.
- Ability to undertake an extended trip/stay (1-2 years) in Japan beginning around October.
- Engineering skills including knowledge of control systems, robotics, mechanics, pneumatics, optical inspection, and computer programming.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy with both personal computers and manufacturing systems.
- Excellent communication skills to prepare and present information to all levels of associates, management, and customers both verbally and in writing.
- Work experience within the automotive industry, with emphasis on electro/mechanical devices.
- 4-year University Degree in Engineering or related field and 10 years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of EV components such as inverters and motors.
- Previous experience spent in Japan working for an automotive manufacturer.
- Knowledge of APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, etc.
- Experience in electronics manufacturing.
- Well-organized, with attention to detail and ability to handle multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
- Intermediate experience required in Windows, MSWord, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Project Management Software preferred (MS Project).
- Experience in CAD software (AutoCAD or other).
The work environment involves collaboration in a global automotive supplier setting, primarily as a Tier 1 supplier to major OEMs like Honda. The facility in Indiana is experiencing growth due to new business. Work will take place on the manufacturing floor, in a desk/office environment, and in meetings both in person and virtually. The role may require an extended stay in Japan and offers a dynamic work culture with plenty of growth opportunities. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
