Job Description
As a Resident Project Representative, you will conduct on-site observations to monitor progress and quality of work with the contract documents. You will serve as the engineer’s liaison with the contractor, maintain adequate records including a daily logbook and a set of drawings on which authorized changes are noted, review the contractor’s application for payment, and perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Remain on the job site for the entirety of the project’s construction.
- Maintain detailed reports of progress of the work and of contractor’s compliance with the progress schedule.
- Review progress schedule, shop drawing and sample submittals, schedule of values, and other submittals prepared by contractor.
- Attend meetings with the contractor, such as preconstruction conferences, progress meetings, and job conferences.
- Comply with site safety programs.
- Assist engineer in serving as owner’s liaison with contractor and obtaining additional details or information as required.
- Review applications for payment with contractor for compliance with the established procedure for their submission.
- Forward any recommendations to the assigned engineer.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Construction inspection experience on water and wastewater construction projects including potable water line installation, sewer installation, pump station, lift station, and treatment plant construction.
- Ability to read civil construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and stay overnight.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction inspection or RPR work for potable water line installation/construction, sanitary sewer line installation/construction, water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and lift stations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in overseeing testing for water/sewer pipe installations such as pressure testing, air testing, hydrostatic testing, disinfection testing (chlorination & de-chlorination), vacuum testing, and mandrel testing.
Work Environment
This role requires travel throughout Indiana, with the possibility of staying overnight in hotels or apartments paid for by the company. You will use your personal vehicle and be reimbursed for mileage. The position involves working standard construction hours (7 AM to 4 PM) with potential overtime, up to 50+ hours as needed. You will be part of a team of 25-28 RPRs and work under challenging weather conditions.
