Job Title: Mechanical Designer
Job Description
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Designer to join our team. The Mechanical Designer will work under the guidance of the Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager to apply mechanical theory in designing and specifying mechanical systems. Responsibilities include performing load estimates, energy usage calculations, completing energy code compliance documentation, and participating in coordination meetings with design team members and clients. The role also involves corresponding with vendors and contractors, conducting site surveys, observing construction projects, and reviewing submittals.
Responsibilities
- Apply mechanical theory to design and specify mechanical systems.
- Perform load estimates and energy usage calculations.
- Complete energy code compliance documentation.
- Participate in coordination meetings with design team members and clients.
- Correspond with vendors and contractors.
- Conduct site surveys.
- Observe construction projects and review submittals.
- Design air distribution and hydronic systems under supervision of Mechanical Engineer.
- Coordinate clearances and fit for all MEPT systems.
- Design automation control systems.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Revit.
- Four-year degree in engineering or technology related to subject area.
- Around 3+ years or more of HVAC design experience.
- Ability to perform duct sizing and layouts.
- Ability to perform load calculation fundamentals.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- EIT license.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC design.
- 2-year degree in engineering or technology related to subject area or no degree at all.
Work Environment
The office is located in downtown Indianapolis in a standalone building with its own parking. This is an in-person position, with flexibility for occasional remote work. Employees start with 2 weeks of vacation, 1 week of sick time, 2 personal days, and 6 paid holidays. Summer hours are from Memorial Day through Labor Day, consisting of four 9-hour days and one 4-hour day.
