Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer to join our team. This role involves collaborating with project managers on municipal and public work projects. The position can evolve into a Project Management role or remain a production-focused role based on your career aspirations. The ideal candidate should have experience in stormwater design, drainage design, water distribution systems design, and wastewater collection systems design.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement stormwater management systems to control runoff, reduce erosion, and prevent pollutants from entering waterways.
- Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses to support stormwater management designs.
- Develop erosion and sediment control plans.
- Plan and design drainage systems to manage surface water and prevent flooding.
- Perform hydraulic modeling to optimize drainage system performance.
- Prepare detailed site and grading plans.
- Design water distribution systems, including pipelines, reservoirs, and pumping stations.
- Conduct hydraulic modeling to ensure efficient water distribution.
- Develop plans and specifications for water infrastructure projects.
- Manage water resources projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project requirements are met.
- Prepare project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Ensure all water resources projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals for project implementation.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Prepare engineering reports, technical memoranda, and design documentation.
- Develop and review construction drawings and specifications.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance on project deliverables.
- Engage with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to communicate project plans and address concerns.
- Participate in public presentations and speaking engagements to explain project details and benefits.
- Conduct site visits and field inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance and oversight to construction inspectors and assist with job site inspections as needed.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Passed the FE exam.
- 2-4+ years of experience in water resources engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other industry-standard software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM).
- Knowledge of GIS and other spatial analysis tools.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

The company is a WBE business located in downtown Indianapolis, offering a small and casual office environment. The team comprises a tight-knit group of professionals working on various transportation, stormwater/wastewater, and construction inspection projects throughout Indiana. The office is laid-back yet maintains a focus on meeting project deadlines. The work environment provides ample opportunity to engage in diverse responsibilities, fostering both technical and career growth. Flex time is available with work hours typically between 40-50 hours a week, starting between 7AM-9AM. The office atmosphere encourages fun and is not overly corporate.2
