Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quality Engineer with experience in aerospace or automotive industries to join our dynamic team. The role will focus primarily on interpreting customer and regulatory requirements, creating internal documentation, and ensuring these requirements are effectively implemented. This position offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to our projects with leading industry partners.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate First Article Inspection creation and submission.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance quality data collection, analysis, and reporting systems.
- Lead the implementation of Quality Management System enhancements, ensuring compliance with industry and customer standards.
- Oversee quality guidelines, controls, and inspection procedures throughout product development and production stages.
- Manage supplier qualification and auditing processes.
- Support product development with risk analysis, FMEA/PFMEA, and reliability assessments.
- Guide teams through root cause analysis and problem-solving using Six Sigma, lean methodologies, and statistical tools.
- Oversee metrology and calibration programs to ensure proper measurement and conformity standards.
- Plan and execute employee training, development, and succession planning initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to plant safety rules and protocols.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in root cause analysis and quality engineering.
- Experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
- Strong skills in PPAP/APQP, corrective action plans, and quality management systems.
- Capability in inspection, PFMEA, and statistical process control.
- Knowledge of lean methodology and Six Sigma principles.
- Associates Degree within an Engineering Discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quality Engineer within heavy metal machinery manufacturing (preference for aerospace or automotive industries).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in First Article Inspection creation and submission.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Military experience is advantageous.
- AS13000 Standards Certification is preferred.
- Six Sigma Certification is a plus.
Work Environment
The work environment is a climate-controlled facility, despite the shop being somewhat dirty. With over 100 CNC machines, this role operates on the first shift from Monday to Friday, starting at 7:00 AM ET and typically ending around 4:00 PM ET. Expect a 40-45 hour work week with minimal day trip traveling to customers.
