Job Description
Join a leading organization in the surface finishing industry, renowned for designing and manufacturing reliable and efficient abrasive blasting equipment. This role supports a manufacturer of custom industrial equipment, where systems are designed and built one at a time based on customer specifications. Engineers work collaboratively with the manufacturing team, focusing on practical, buildable solutions that are developed and refined throughout the build process.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize mechanical components and assemblies for industrial powertrain systems.
- Customize base equipment platforms based on customer-specified size, layout, and performance requirements.
- Design fabricated weldments and machined components including frames, brackets, shafts, couplings, flanges, housings, and clutches.
- Analyze mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electro-hydraulic systems to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Develop detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings in accordance with applicable standards.
- Review customer design proposals and specifications for feasibility, cost, and performance.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, system engineers, project teams, and vendors to support component selection, fabrication, and assembly.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Support design updates and refinements during fabrication and assembly to meet engineering and performance requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or MET.
- 1-3 years of mechanical engineering experience.
- Proficiency in CAD for drawing 3D models and generating 3D prints.
- Experience in a welding environment.
- Experience designing continuous-duty industrial equipment.
- Exposure to robotics and industrial automation.
- Proficiency in Plasma CNC programming.
- Experience entering Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routings into ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability.
- Proficient in 3D CAD modeling.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
This position is onsite, with working hours from 7 AM to 4 PM. You will work closely with three other tenured engineers in a small fabrication shop. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr.
