Job Title: Construction Project Engineer


Job Description

We are seeking a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in the successful execution of construction projects. This office-based role focuses on the financial and administrative aspects of project management, with projects ranging from water treatment facilities and industrial developments to K-12 schools and parks in Central Indiana. Some travel will be required.


Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with financial tracking, budgeting, and forecasting for multiple projects.
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Assist in contract administration and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate procurement activities, including vendor communication and purchase order tracking.
  • Generate and maintain project documentation, including cost reports and progress updates.
  • Utilize project management and ERP software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint) for documentation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Analyze project data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • 2 years of commercial construction experience (or 1 year of water/waste water or K-12 experience).
  • 1 year of general contractor experience.
  • 1 year of experience with construction software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with water waste water projects.
  • Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings.
  • Experience in K-12 construction.
  • Proficiency in Procore and institutional construction.

Work Environment

This position requires five days per week in the office, with a typical work week of 40-45 hours. Travel exceeding 60 miles is reimbursed at $0.67 per mile. The role offers an opportunity for career growth, eventually leading to managing your own projects as an Assistant Project Manager.
