Job Description
Join a dynamic and growing Indianapolis-based commercial contractor, specializing in ground-up buildings and detailed tenant-improvement projects. The team handles a diverse range of work, including retail buildouts and new developments, fostering a highly collaborative, lean, and fast-paced environment. As an Assistant Project Manager, you'll support experienced Project Managers throughout the entire construction lifecycle, gaining exposure to all stages of commercial construction. Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and manage submittals, transmittals, and logs.
- Track and support RFIs, responses, and closeout documentation.
- Maintain document control, including drawings/specs revisions, distribution, and filing conventions.
- Support meeting minutes, action items, and follow-ups.
- Utilize construction management platforms like Autodesk Build.
- Maintain records and workflows in project systems, ensuring clean and complete data tracking.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors for documentation, submittals, and compliance needs.
- Assist Project Managers with day-to-day workflow organization and project communication.
- Support basic schedule updates or scheduling inputs.
- Potential to run smaller scopes or portions of projects with increasing independence.
Essential Skills
- Experience in construction industry office/project support or relevant Construction Management/Engineering education.
- Strong competence with Excel and Microsoft Outlook/Teams.
- General comfort with learning new software quickly.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with construction platforms like Autodesk Build, Procore, or PlanGrid.
- Familiarity with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project.
- Broader experience with general contractor or subcontractor environments.
- Commercial exposure is preferred; open to multifamily experience.
- Experience in plan reading, drawing review, and spec navigation.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam or AutoCAD.
- Spanish proficiency is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management preferred.
Work Environment
The work environment is on-site five days a week, both indoors and outdoors. The office is located downtown with a parking garage pass provided. The team is tight-knit, fostering a positive attitude, high integrity, and strong work ethic. There are quarterly events and outings, and bonuses available per project. As a salaried employee, benefits include three weeks of PTO, medical, dental, and vision coverage, and a 401(k) with a 4% company match. Vehicle and phone expenses are also covered, with project travel gas reimbursable.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00/hr.
